“Nakoda,” meaning “friend” or “ally.” A unique white furred grizzly bear that graced the landscape of Banff and Yoho National Parks. Sadly, in 2024 she was struck by a vehicle on Highway 1 close to the Alberta/B.C. border. She is one of a handful of grizzly bears I’ve been able to watch grow from a cub into an adult. Her precious life will not be forgotten.
